We have a wonderful school made up of wonderful children, staff, and volunteers. UMRHS depends on its volunteers on a daily basis to aid in the smooth operation of the school as well as the safety of our children. When you volunteer at the school you are not just helping the staff and the other volunteers, you are helping the children; your children. They are proud, excited, and appreciate the fact that you are part of their world.

There are several areas in the school system where you can lend a hand.

Methods and Resource

Resource volunteers will be working with individuals or small groups of children who are experiencing difficulty with the academic program. They work under the direction of the classroom teachers and Resource teachers, either in the classroom or outside of the classroom. Ideally, they work weekly and volunteer for two hours each session. A training session will be provided.

Library

Volunteers work under the supervision of the librarian at a variety of jobs: assisting at the circulation desk by signing books out to students and teachers, checking books in, shelving returned books, and straightening shelves as necessary. No special previous library training is necessary.

District 18 mandates a Criminal Record screening of all adults working with children.
